PKI USB Token

Organizations are extending their businesses from the traditional and secure world of private networks into the Internet and beyond. To achieve this they must establish and maintain secure networking environments for these business relationships.

The purpose of a public key infrastructure (PKI) is to manage digital keys and certificates. PKI systems can enable the use of digital signature, digital receipt, encryption and permissions management services across a wide variety of applications. PKI-based security solutions are enhanced by “something you have” technologies, providing secure storage of digital identities backed up by strong two-factor authentication.

An authentication access token in the USB Form Factor that positively identifies and authenticates individuals who wish to access extranets, online applications, pc's and files. The PKI USB Token eliminates the vulnerabilities associated with fixed username and password security systems aswell as non-PKI supporting tokens. PKI USB Token is classified as a strong two factor authentication system that combines the following features to prove the identity of an individual:

Password access tokens that are assigned to individuals.
One time passwords that can be changed periodically.
Password or Personal Identification Number (PIN).
Real-Time Authentication (periodically checking presence of token and id).
Secure storage and retrieval of credentials like private key and certificate.

Together, these features combine something an individual has (the token), something they know (the pin and user id), as well as the digital identity in the form of a digital certificate and private key provided by a Trusted Authority in order to prevent someone else from assuming their identity.

The PKI USB token can be accessed with a one time password (OTP's) and stores digital certificates (for PKI-based authentication, encryption, digital signing, and non-repudiation), and smart card information. Using the industry's only token with Blended Authentication capabilities, partners, customers, and mobile employees can strongly authenticate themselves from virtually any location or device, with a USB port.

Tokens require unique software drivers to be installed on the resident client. All PKI USB Tokens use the standard Windows O/S drivers available on most clients by which the impact of MaGer on users is minimized.
